YouTube Marketing

The ordinary Internet user performs 35 searches…daily.  (Did you use the Telephone book 35 times…last MONTH?)  The baby boomers are retiring, but their children…and their GRANDCHILDREN, have grown up in a world of laptops, YouTube, text messaging, and Twitter.  My 17 yr old is never without her laptop computer and cellphone at home…even when watching TV (I guess that's the new definition of 'multi-tasking!)  On our phone bill last month, she was responsible for over 6,000 text messages…incoming & outgoing.  Thank God for Unlimited Texting Plans!     (Yeah, I know, your kid did more…)

The point is, I've never seen her use the phone book.  Now, I'm not saying that the phone book is dead..but it is quickly becoming extraneous.We are now on our third generation of 'plugged in' kids, who are used to being in front of a computer all day, who are in almost constant contact with friends and family 24 hours a day…who can find out anything…about anybody….or anything…..when THEY wish to.

In a nutshell, more and more people are using Google to look for things.  For a business, that means that to survive in the future, you had better be where people are looking. For the last hundred years, that place has been the phone book.  It's no secret that when people look in the phone book, they are actively looking to buy.  (Let's face it; you don't read the phone book for the articles!)

In today's plugged-in world, your business needs to be where people will find you.  Content Marketing is all about putting information, not necessarily sales pitches, where people can find it, WHEN THEY ARE READY FOR IT.  It has been said that if your business is not listed on Page 1-3 of Google you don't exist.

How do you get on Google's Page 1?  I have videos that have been listed on Page 1 within HOURS!  I have listings where ALL 10 organic listings…ARE MY VIDEOS!  That's right…the entire Page 1 of Google  consists   of ONLY MY LISTINGS!    

Can you say DOMINATE?

Onlne video can not only put you on Page 1 within HOURS, if can also help you OWN that page.  Imagine, someone doing a search for your product or service, and only seeing YOUR name….or at least 4-6 of the listings are yours.  And imagine if these listings were accompanied by a thumbnail image.  Do you think that attract someone's attention?

But just making a video and submitting it to one or two video web sites, will not get you listed with the search engines.  You need to submit that video to 20-30 of the top video sharing sites on the Internet:  Revver, PhotoBucket, Dailmotion, LiveVideo, to list a few.  And that can take time.  Enter Video Submission Software.

Unlike text-based internet sites, an online video only requires three items to be optimized:  the Title, the Description of the video, and the Tags, or Keywords.

Basically, video submission software works that same as other types of 'submission' software:  you produce your video, 'optimize' it , with the proper Title, Description, and Keywords, select the Video Sites that you want to broadcast the video to, and click!  Your video is automatically submitted.

You will be stunned at how fast your video is listed.  By having your video listed with multiple sites, the search engines pick it up faster.  With the huge popularity of video today, the search engines give priority to videos.  I have had videos appear on Google's Page 1 within 1 hour of submission.  Some videos I submitted over 6 months ago, are STILL on Page 1..with no  resubmissions done since then.

A clarification.  When I talk about video, I don't mean I use a camcorder.  While I do own a “flip' style video recorder,  I'm referring to slideshows, created with Windows Movie Maker.  Merge digital photos, some stock photos, text slides, add some background music, and you've got a 45 second 'Infomercial' worthy of any TV production.  Make sure that your Phone Number and Website is present on the slides, and you've made a Page 1 reference to your business.

Online video is almost untouched by businesses as yet.  Do a simple Google search, and it is doubtful that you will find many videos..  But that will change.  There is a huge opportunity for a home based business to offer video placement on Google.
